Laura Thompson - Hygienist

Dip DH RCS Ed

GDC NO. 6419

Laura qualified as a dental hygienist in 2004 from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh during her time in the Royal Navy working both shoreside and at sea as well as teaching in the Defence Dental Services Training Establishment.  Since leaving the Royal Navy in 2009 Laura has worked in all areas of dentistry including NHS, private practice, maxillofacial and special care dentistry.

As a nervous patient herself she takes great pride in her work with other nervous patients.  Using a patient-centred approach Laura is able to deliver a prevention based oral health message.

She is an active member of the British Society of Dental Hygienist and Therapists (BSDHT) where she is a volunteer coach and mentor to other clinicians.  Externally to her clinical practice Laura is head of the Universities Programme for an oral hygiene product company which allows her to still engage in teaching and spreading the oral health message which she loves.
