Teeth Straightening
Serving patients throughout Monmouthshire and wales
Never before have there been so many ways to have your teeth straightened.
Teeth straightening is a dental speciality known as Orthodontics. Using fixed braces or removable aligners, teeth are slowly and precisely moved to achieve a beautifully aligned smile.
Dentists and Orthodontists have been straightening teeth for decades, but a lot has changed in that time. Traditional fixed braces will always be a fantastic way to straighten teeth, but advances in technology have now introduced a range of discreet alternatives. From clear removable aligners, clear fixed braces to invisible wires hidden behind the teeth, these aesthetic options have seen a huge rise in the number of adults seeking straighter teeth.
Orthodontic treatment is most often used to improve the appearance and alignment of crooked, protruding or crowded teeth, and to correct problems with the bite of the teeth. Whether you have mild crowding or a complex bite problem, our teeth straightening dentist Dr Ben or Dr Jason, can help you to achieve your perfect smile.
At The Mayhill Dental and Specialist Centre in Monmouth we offer the following teeth straightening options:
- Invisalign
- Clear aligners
Treatment times vary depending on your individual alignment needs. For simple cases this could be just a few months, but for more complex movements, it usually takes between 12 months and two years to achieve your beautiful new smile. Dr Ben or Dr Jason will give you an idea of how long your teeth straightening treatment may take during your initial consultation.
Benefits of dental braces or clear aligners from The Mayhill Dental and Specialist Centre in Monmouth

Am I suitable for teeth straightening?
Your teeth and gums need to be healthy before you can start treatment. If you have any implants, crowns, bridges, or veneers you can still wear braces, we can usually work around them.

Does teeth straightening hurt?
Teeth straightening may cause some level of discomfort at first, however, this is typically temporary and not severe.
With fixed braces, you’ll likely feel a dull ache when they’re first fitted, or after they’ve been tightened - but don’t worry, this will fade after a day or two. Aligners may also cause an ache when first worn.
But, you can easily ease any discomfort with painkillers such as paracetamol.

Is teeth straightening in South Wales expensive?
Teeth straightening isn’t cheap given how long treatment lasts. But, given its impressive results, it’s certainly worth the expense!
Can’t afford to pay upfront? Not to worry! We want to ensure all patients can fund a new and beautiful smile, which is why we offer finance and payment plans. For more information about paying for teeth straightening in Monmouth in installments, visit our fees page or contact us online, and we’ll be in touch.
Should I get fixed braces or removable aligners?
When choosing between traditional braces and plastic aligners, you need to consider budget, preference and the severity of your alignment issues - the latter will be determined by your dentist.
Aligner treatment is typically more expensive than braces and is often favoured due to the discreteness of the trays and the fact they’re removable for easy eating and teeth cleaning.
However, others prefer the fixed nature of braces and need them to treat complex alignment problems that aligners simply can’t fix. Why not book an initial consultation for teeth straightening in South Wales to decide which option is best for your needs?
